Heat Stress Vulnerability of Populations and Role of Urban Heat Island

چکیده
A city's ecology and energy use can be affected by an urban heat island (UHI). However, its role in exacerbating populations' stress has been extensively studied. This study reviewed summarized the literature on UHI, causes, effects. After that, characteristics of population vulnerability are examined. The results studies health effects, potential mitigation tactics existing settlements show necessity examining various relationships between UHI locations susceptible populations possible responses. By from related domains, present intends to identify research convince researchers about such a area, especially developing nations, since case were only few. Further, highlighted relevance planning mitigate UHI. fundamental examination climate initial step creating design standards, followed models considering socio-economic environmental elements.

Vulnerability to heat waves: Impact of urban expansion scenarios on urban heat island and heat stress in Paris (France)
Heat-wave risk in cities is determined both by regional climate evolutions and by cities size and shape change, because they can impact heat island effect. Land planning and urban transport policies, due to their long-lasting impact on cities shape, can therefore play a role in heat-wave risk mitigation. However, the link between these policies and resulting change in urban heat island is far f...

We are all familiar with the fact that cities are generally warmer than the surrounding, more rural areas. We see it referenced most nights in our television weather reports. It is especially significant on nights with clear skies and light winds which favor radiational cooling. This is most significant in the rural areas but in the city, the excess heat absorbed during the day and the local he...

متن کاملMapping Manchester’s urban heat island
An urban heat island (UHI) is a phenomenon whereby urban areas experience elevated temperatures relative to the surrounding rural hinterland. This thermal contrast is brought about by anthropogenic modification of the environment. For example, there is little bare earth and vegetation in urban areas. This means that less energy is used in evaporating water, less of the Sun’s energy is reflected...
